Newbie Ranger questions...
Some newbie doubts...
Which class mix well with Ranger (Prophecies) for PvE damage? Forget solo and PvP for now. I saw a Dervish fighting and found the scythe moves very nice. All classes share the same moves (I am talking about the movements, not the skills) or only if I choose a Dervish primary I will fight that way? Any sugestion of a good offline or online skill builder? Last edited by Lorde; Feb 17, 2007 at 03:18 AM // 03:18.. Reason: Added question |

Any class mixes well with ranger, and you don't need a specific one for PvE, since you are a new player and I assume you starting on NF (talk about dervishes) go R/MO for mending touch,
this is a good build for a young ranger to learn and works in pve and pvp. [skill]Burning Arrow[/skill][skill]Savage Shot[/skill][skill]Distracting Shot[/skill][skill]Natural Stride[/skill][skill]Mending Touch[/skill][skill]Apply Poison[/skill][skill]Troll Unguent[/skill][skill]Resurrection Signet[/skill] Attributes 9+1+2 Markmanship 12+1 Expertise 10+1 WS Not 100% sure if those attributes are correct I'd have to log on my ranger and check , but It's something like that, maybe more points in WS. PS: Have fun and Rangers rock <3. And don't worry much about skills in PvE, anything works in pve since you got heroes and henchman to do the job for you anyway. I got Prophecies instead, lvl 15, just got Signet of Capture on Lion's Arc.
How you made to post your skills with icons and details btw? My build (for now) is: Ranger Prep - Poison Arrows Savage Shot Hunter shot Troll Unguent Whirlwind Defense Elementalist Glyph of Lesser Energy Mark of Rodgort Rez Signet And while Henchies help, I like to use then as little as possible. |

Any build with savage shot, distracting shot, apply poison and troll uguent is good.
Too bad you don't have Nightfall. It's got some neat ranger skills. If you just wanna PvE you don't need to get that though. I'd suggest something like this. Barrage Savage Shot Distracting Shot Apply Poison Troll Unguent (speed boost, not sure which one to use if you don't have Natural Stride) attack speed boost. Frenzy rocks on a ranger since you're not likely to be targeted anyway,(you're far away) or Tiger's Fury Res Sig (ALWAYS bring this) |

Rangers are by far the most versatile proffesion in the game. I only have monk as a secondary in PvE for the hard rez. Rebirth is useful,l since you tend to be far from the action if it goes tits up you can move out of aggro and rebirth people to a safe distance. Hmmm My build! I'll be guessing a bit because I dont have guild wars on this PC but here goes
Barrage(elite) Distracting shot Savage shot Sundering Shot Whirling Defence or Throw dirt (Whirling is good but if you can blind 3 warriors you help your party) Preperation or spirit (usualy apply poison to degen a bit) Troll Ugnent (Very rarely have to use it, Mix with whirling maybe to avoid an interrupt) A hard rez if your 2nd monk or rez signet if not You possibly wont be able to get sundering shot as I dont know which of the three games I got that from. With a decent set-up of bows I find this a versatile build. I tend to apply poison and spread that about a bit then barrage any groups. The two interrupts help you take down caster bosses and sundering for a bit of a spike mixed with my sundering horn bow. Your best bet with a ranger though is to get every skill you can afford and get every secondary proff later in the game. This means when partying you can help out with numerous builds like pure interrupts, damage, condition spreading or even part monk to take pressure of your primary monks. Man I love playing rangers |

^You can't use a prep when using barrage.

To Lord, your bar looks fine as it is ,
so right now you have Apply poison Hunters shot Savage shot Distracting shot Troll unguent Whirling defense That's not bad, I'd suggest removing the elementalist skills and get Kindle Arrows and Resurrection Signet ,and when you get to Droknars Forge, take out Apply poison and cap Poison Arrow, if you need help with that pm me. My IGN is Franco Power, It's easy to do, should take 5 minuts. Your bar should look like this after: [skill]Poison Arrow[/skill][skill]Savage Shot[/skill][skill]Distracting Shot[/skill][skill]Hunter's Shot[/skill][skill]Troll Unguent[/skill][skill]Whirling Defense[/skill][skill]Kindle Arrows[/skill][skill]Resurrection Signet[/skill] These are good sites for people that want to play ranger should consider reading: http://beacon.wiseelben.com/ http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Ranger http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...ad.php?t=88313 Some of the stuff there isn't exactly to my taste but I suppose it works for PvE. Have fun Last edited by Franco Power; Feb 17, 2007 at 01:43 PM // 13:43.. |

Oooh! I need to bookmark those. I started a ranger in NF because female rangers finally got some decent hairstyles, but I am totally clueless with regard to rangers.
